Welcome to International Journal of Geriatric Orthopedics (IJGO)
The International Journal of Geriatric Orthopedics (IJGO) is a peer-reviewed, triannual scientific journal dedicated to advancing clinically relevant orthopedic research and education in the field of geriatric musculoskeletal health and orthopedic care. It serves as the official publication of the Geriatric Orthopedic Society Of India (GOSI), reflecting the Society’s commitment to promoting excellence in clinical practice, research, and education for the ageing population.
IJGO provides a multidisciplinary platform for orthopedic surgeons, geriatricians, physiatrists, rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals involved in the comprehensive care of older adults. The journal encourages collaboration between diverse disciplines to improve understanding, prevention, and management of musculoskeletal disorders among older adults.
The International Journal of Geriatric Orthopedics (IJGO) publishes high-quality research, reviews, clinical studies, methodological work, and scholarly discussion that improve musculoskeletal health and orthopaedic care in older adults. Core topics include fragility fractures, osteoporosis and bone health, arthroplasty, geriatric spine care, trauma, perioperative optimization, frailty and sarcopenia, falls, rehabilitation, pain, mobility, functional outcomes, patient-reported outcomes, orthogeriatric co-management, health services, prevention, implementation science, technology, and surgical innovation relevant to ageing populations.
Multidisciplinary submissions from geriatrics, anaesthesia, rehabilitation, psychology/psychiatry, oncology, nutrition, nursing, public health, policy, law or allied fields are considered when they have a clear and substantive relationship to musculoskeletal health, orthopaedic care, mobility, function, recovery, or the care pathway of older adults.
IJGO does not publish general orthopaedic, sports-injury, trauma or surgical manuscripts focused on children, adolescents or younger adults unless the work directly answers a geriatric/ageing question or includes a clearly justified older-adult comparative component.
Manuscripts that are primarily non-musculoskeletal and do not materially inform orthogeriatric care are outside scope.
